As secondary school rugby continues to grow in ability and professionalism, the demands of 1st XV and age-grade representative coaches have become increasingly high.

However, despite these growing demands, there is a real lack of development opportunity for coaches aspiring to coach and/or achieve at this level.

That’s why IRAA developed the Advanced Coaches Course.

Designed specifically for ambitious Secondary School and age-grade representative coaches, this programme is most suited to rugby coaches with at least some level of coaching experience – but aspire to achieve in a high performance, 1st XV environment.

The Advanced Coaches Course focuses on coaching players aged 16 years of age and above.

The programme includes various modules in both classroom and practical settings, aiming to equip participants with a full set of tools that can be implemented within their own environment that will have an instantly recognisable impact on performance.

These modules include:

  • Design and Implementation of a Game Plan
  • Coach Philosophy
  • Team Profiling
  • Patterns of Play and Tactics
  • Defensive patterns and structure
  • Talent identification
  • Live match observation
  • Performance analysis & the team review process
  • Position-specific coaching knowledge

The Advanced Coaches Course programme runs in-tandem with our Advanced Players Course, providing Coach participants the unique opportunity to work live with players, under the guidance of our expert Staff Coaches.

The programme also includes a live match observation, where Position-Specific experts work with individual players across the field in a live scenario. This provides Coach participants an opportunity to learn each position across the field with in comprehensive detail.

Participants are provided a Course assessment from our expert Staff Coaches, identifying key strengths and work-ons for each individual coach. This ensures participants can focus their post-Course development in the right areas and moving towards the next step in their coaching career.

Course fee of $2,750 include:

  • Individual Course Assessment
