FAQs

Are any qualifications required before attending a course?

Player qualifications are not required before attending an IRAA Course. However, some Courses require a specific level of ability and might not be suitable for all participants.

Coaches must have a Working With Children Check Number included with their application.

I’m very interested in attending a course but might have trouble with the Course Fees…

Our staff can provide payment plans and advice regarding the various funding avenues, sponsorship and scholarship opportunities available for both domestic and international players and coaches.

IRAA is also proud to offer a limited number of full-fee scholarships.

Please contact us if you require further detail.

What is covered under the Course Fees?

Our Set Courses are full immersion – which means participants are provided with food, accommodation and amenities to stay on-site at Sydney Olympic Park for the duration of the course.

All of these costs, plus all course material and tuition is covered under your course fees for the full duration of the course.

Travel expenses (e.g. flights and transfers to Sydney Olympic Park) are not included.

Do you offer personalised courses? / Are courses offered outside of Palmerston North?

IRAA offers Customised Courses which are tailor-made programmes to your very requirements.

These are perfect for groups (normally schools or clubs) that would like a personalised programme in a location of their choice, or on-site at Sydney Olympic Park.

I’m still not sure what to expect on the course…

While each of our courses are designed differently relative to the age and/or ability of the player or coach, all courses follow a similar style to provide what we call the ‘IRAA experience’.

Will my 13 year old son be up against a 15 year old prop?

We’ll match players based on experience, ability, age and physicality.

Will my daughter be competing against the boys teams?

The womens courses are designed specifically for women’s rugby. Training programmes may be integrated with boys and girls working together where appropriate based on skill, experience and physicality.

Girls’ and Boys’ accommodation will be separated and fully supervised.
